As we move right along into Unit 3.2 we will continue to ask and answer questions about key details in text as we retell familiar stories with prompting and support. Additionally, students willneed to ask and answer questions about unknownwords. They will also use the most frequentlyoccurring inflection and affixes as a clue to themeaning of unknown words. In this unit of study wewill also begin to compare and contrast characters.
Students will continue to write informational piecesthat identify 2 or more facts and include closure.Students will participate in shared research andwriting projects.
MATH UPDATE Students have recently finished Topic 7:Understanding Addition and we are moving ontoTopic 8: Understanding Subtraction. We haverecently added math centers in which the studentrotate between. Myself and Mrs. O'Hare providesmall guided math lessons while others are onMatific (online computer support with built in mathgames to fit Envision Topics), word problems withMrs. Nelson, & independent work center.
SCIENCE UPDATE: I am excited to announce that we will be receivingour new science kits very shortly (Animals 2X2).Our first animals to arrive are goldfish and guppies!We will explore the parts of these fish as well astheir functions. We will also compare and contrastthem! They are expected to arrive in early March!!!
